Prominent Filmmaker St. Clair Bourne Honored with Tribute

February 1, 2008 - The Museum of the Moving Image will present a tribute to St. Clair Bourne, the prominent African-American filmmaker and activist who died in late 2007. The program will include a selection of clips from Bourne’s films and a panel discussion about his life and work featuring cultural critics and scholars.

Bourne, a prolific filmmaker, made more than forty films, mainly documentaries about African-American culture and politics. His subjects included Paul Robeson, John Henrik Clarke, Amiri Baraka, and Langston Hughes.

The tribute will take place on Sunday, February 10, at 2pm. The Museum of the Moving Image is located in Astoria. For program information, visit http://movingimage.us.
