New York City Featured in Upcoming Super Bowl Commercial

January 2, 2008 - Everywhere Derek Jeter goes, baseball is sure to follow. That’s the message behind the Yankee superstar’s latest outing for Gatorade in a commercial set in New York City and scheduled to appear during this year’s Super Bowl.

The commercial, entitled “Foot Steps,” finds Derek Jeter wandering the streets of Manhattan, his mind consumed with thoughts of baseball. As he crosses the street, grass grows up through the pavement. Upon passing a window display of televisions, every channel instantly tunes into a game. Even the pedestrians Jeter shares the street with are outfitted in baseball uniforms until the end when the entire city morphs into a giant baseball diamond.

Location manager Jason Ciaccia scouted numerous sites around the city before the director settled on locations, primarily in SoHo. “The Mayor’s Film Office was instrumental,” Ciaccia explained. Working early one Saturday morning so as not to interfere with traffic, the crew coordinated with TCD to divert traffic for the production’s climax – Jeter walking down the canyon of an empty Broadway.
