Kyle McCarthy

Kyle McCarthy
October 1, 2005 – For nearly 20 years, Kyle McCarthy has been keeping production in motion at MTA Metro-North Railroad facilities. Ms. McCarthy handles production at Grand Central Terminal, on trains and at other Metro-North stations and facilities. She started her career in customer relations with the company.

Over the years, she has coordinated scenes including the fantasy dance sequence in The Fisher King in which Robin Williams and hundreds of extras waltz through the grand concourse in Grand Central; the scene in US Marshals in which Wesley Snipes’ character jumps off of a building to escape Tommy Lee Jones’ character, and gets away on a moving train; the season finale of "Law & Order" which recreated a train crash at a Metro-North maintenance facility; and productions including Men in Black 2, Unfaithful, Eternal Sunshine of the Spotless Mind, Kinsey, Baby Boom and The House on Carroll Street.

For Ms. McCarthy, filming at Grand Central lends productions a New York vibe and authenticity. “Grand Central is one of the quintessential New York places,” she said. “Whether filmmakers need an establishing shot of arriving in New York or transportation scenes, the restored landmark building is visually appealing and authentic.”

“There’s a certain edge to New York that you can’t recreate anywhere else. It just doesn’t look right – there’s a lack of aura and feeling.”

Ms. McCarthy is adept at accomodating what she calls the “quirks” of each production to help filmmakers achieve the shots and feel they need. Interested in casting Metro-North properties in your next production? Contact Kyle McCarthy at 212-672-1204.
