August 1, 2004 - For over 20 years, Drew Jiritano has manipulated the forces of wind, rain and fire for New York City productions.
As an expert in special effects and a licensed pyrotechnician, Drew Jiritano has the experience and the equipment to simulate special effects from fog to flying scenes for film, television, video and photography shoots.
Some of Mr. Jiritano’s recent projects have included blowing up a six foot bowl of nacho cheese for The Late Show with David Letterman, creating a barn fire for Guiding Light, and simulating a cabin explosion for As The World Turns.
His credits include music videos for Madonna, P. Diddy, Mariah Carey and Aerosmith; still photography for New York Magazine, Vanity Fair and The New Yorker; Radio City Music Hall’s Christmas Spectacular show; the films Eternal Sunshine of the Spotless Mind and In The Cut; commercials for Nike and AT & T; and television including MTV, ABC Monday night football and NBC sports.
“The best part of my job is that, in New York City, there’s always another new and exciting project to work on,” Mr. Jiritano said. “I’ve traveled the world doing special effects, but there’s no place like New York City. The locations, the layout of the City, the ease of getting permits and the assistance of the Fire Department’s explosives unit make it the best place in the world to work in the production industry.”
