MOFTB and SPF Announce Free Industry Theatre Panels at Little Shubert Theatre
July 1, 2006 On July 10th and July 24th the New York City Mayor's Office of Film, Theatre and Broadcasting and Summer Play Festival will present a series of free panels addressing theatre in New York City, including an impressive lineup of industry professionals. All panels are free and open to the public.


Mayor Bloomberg Presents "Made in NY" Awards to Individuals Making a Difference in City's Entertainment Industry
June 5, 2006 Mayor Michael R. Bloomberg presented the inaugural “Made in NY” awards to individuals who have made significant contributions to the City’s entertainment industry this evening at a ceremony at Gracie Mansion. Filmmaker Noah Baumbach, Actors’ Fund of America Executive Director Joe Benincasa, Actor Marcia Gay Harden, Student Filmmaker Kamaria Alvy Johnson, Actor Jennifer Jason Leigh, Association of Independent Commercial Producers President/CEO Matthew Miller, and Actor Tamara Tunie were honored during the ceremony as part of the Mayor’s Office of Film, Theatre and Broadcasting’s “Made in NY” campaign, which recognizes and promotes entertainment production in New York City.

"Treatment" Treated Well at Tribeca
June 1, 2006 On May 6 at the Tribeca Film Festival, Commissioner Katherine Oliver presented the “Made in NY” award for Best Narrative Feature in the New York, New York category, sponsored by the Mayor's Office of Film, Theatre and Broadcasting, to Oren Rudavsky, director of The Treatment.


Production Discounts Circle the City
June 1, 2006 Numerous local businesses joined the “Made in NY” discount card program in May, pledging discounts of at least ten percent to productions which shoot in New York City.


"Made in NY" PA's Take 'Pride' & Other Projects
June 1, 2006 The second group of participants in the “Made in NY” Production Assistant (PA) Training Program graduated on May 18, and are now available for hire. During the course of the free, full-time, month-long program, the participants were prepared for work as PA's, and learned how to work collaboratively with the neighborhoods in which they shoot.
