Scouting Tag Program Discontinued
May 23, 2006 Effective June 30, 2006, the Mayor’s Office of Film, Theatre and Broadcasting will no longer issue production scouting tags and all existing scouting tags will expire. Due to the success of the ‘Made in NY’ tax incentive program, the City has accomplished its goal of attracting increased production business and employment for New Yorkers who work in the entertainment industry.


Upfronts Reveal Eight New NYC Television Shows
May 18, 2006 During this week’s upfront presentations, the networks unveiled fall lineups which include eight new television pilots based in New York City, along with a strong lineup of returning productions.


Mayor Announces $30 Million Annual Increase in City Financing for Production Tax Credit
May 10, 2006 Mayor Michael R. Bloomberg today visited the feature film The Nanny Diaries on location in Tribeca to announce that in the coming weeks the Administration will work with the New York City Council on a local law to reauthorize and expand the “Made in NY” tax credit initiative, which will provide $30 million in City financing annually for local film and television productions through 2011. The “Made in NY” tax credit initiative has helped to create jobs and expand the City’s $5 billion film and TV sector, which supports employment for more than 100,000 New Yorkers. The Nanny Diaries, produced by The Weinstein Company and directed by Shari Berman and Robert Pulcini, is shooting in New York City as a result of the “Made in NY” incentive program.

May 1, 2006 The nominations are in for the 55th annual Outer Circle awards, to be held on May 25 at Sardi's, and numerous Great White Way productions are in the running. The Mayor's Office of Film, Theatre and Broadcasting applauds the outstanding nominees:


Oliver Makes “Matrix”
May 1, 2006 On April 3, Katherine Oliver, Commissioner of the Mayor's Office of Film, Theatre and Broadcasting, received a Matrix Award from New York Women in Communications, Inc. Commissioner Oliver was honored along with Jill Abramson, Managing Editor of The New York Times, Author Candace Bushnell, Beth Comstock, President, NBCU Digital Media and Market Development, Actress Geena Davis, Renetta McCann, Chief Executive Officer, Starcom Mediavest Group, WOR Radio Personality Joan Hamburg, and Glamour Editor-in-Chief Cynthia Leive, in a ceremony hosted by Ellen DeGeneres and sponsored by the Oxygen Network.
