"Play Only" Line Makes Theatre Development More Fun
March 1, 2005 In January, the Theatre Development fund, which operates the TKTS Ticket Booth on Broadway and 47th street for same day discount tickets for Broadway, Off Broadway, music and dance, began piloting a separate “play only” line to expedite requests for play tickets.


New Audience for "Theatre for a New Audience"
March 1, 2005 On February 3, Mayor Michael R. Bloomberg, BAM Local Development Corporation (BAM LDC) Chair Harvey Lichtenstein and Theatre for a New Audience Founding Artistic Director Jeffrey Horowitz unveiled the design of Theatre for a New Audience’s new theater, to be built in the emerging BAM Cultural District in Downtown Brooklyn.


Movie Lovers' Guide to New York
March 1, 2005 Last month, Broadway Books published New York: The Movie Lover’s Guide, by Richard Alleman. A follow-up to his eponymous 1988 guide, which was being sold online for as much as $100 after it went out of print, the book goes behind the scenes at locations made famous on film, from the Godfather Estate on Staten Island to Jack Nicholson’s As Good As It Gets apartment on West 12th street.

"Hope & Faith" Spreads Through City
March 1, 2005 The Mayor’s Office of Film, Theatre and Broadcasting’s February marketing campaign advertised the ABC television show Hope & Faith with the Made in NY logo. As part of the Made in NY Incentive Program’s marketing credit, the City provided free advertisements on bus shelter posters throughout the City to the show.


City Captures "Confessions"
March 1, 2005 New York City has captured "Confessions!" After leaving New York for Las Vegas, executive producer Sheila Nevins worked with Commissioner Katherine Oliver to bring HBO's Emmy award-winning documentary Taxicab Confessions back to the Big Apple where it belongs.


It's the Big Apple for Bachelor
March 1, 2005 After shooting the last season of The Bachelorette in New York City, the producers were so happy with the City that they decided to bring The Bachelor to the Big Apple.


"Actor" Goes to Orbach
March 1, 2005 On February 5, Jerry Orbach was honored posthumously with a SAG award for Outstanding Performance by a Male Actor in a Drama Series, for his role as Detective Lennie Briscoe on Law & Order. His wife, Elaine Orbach, took the stage to a standing ovation to accept the award.


Mayor Announces Production Increases As Result of "Made in NY"
February 22, 2005 Mayor Michael R. Bloomberg, Silvercup Studios CEO Alan Suna, Silvercup Studios President Stuart Match Suna and Queens native and star of FOX Broadcasting Company’s Jonny Zero Franky G announced today that five new television pilots are currently in production at Silvercup Studios in Queens. As a result of an array of State and City tax incentives aimed at spurring television and film production, New York City is quickly expanding its entertainment sector, adding jobs and economic activity to the local economy. The five pilots shooting at Silvercup Studios promises to add more than $15 million to our City’s economy.
