December 3, 2008 - The recent electronic recycling venture between NYC and NBC has paid off – more than 360,000 pounds of electronic waste was collected at locations throughout the five boroughs.

Over the course of a weekend in November, New Yorkers were invited to drop off their unwanted computers, televisions, cell phones, radios, cameras, VCRs, speakers, telephones and other electronics. The electronic waste collected at the Green Screen events was recycled, materials that had value were recovered, and toxins and other hazardous materials were safely and legally disposed of.

Four MOFTB staffers volunteered at drop-off centers in Brooklyn and Queens, doing their part to keep NYC green.
