Commissioner Katherine Oliver receives a PEP for New York award from Thomas O'Donnell Jr. of the Teamsters Local 817
October 31, 2003 Production Expo Plus, New York's newest trade exhibition for the entertainment production industry, debuted on October 30 at the Javits Center and ran through November 1, 2003. PEP's conference program assembled groups of industry representatives to discuss technical, labor and cost issues.
On the first day of the Expo, Commissioner Katherine Oliver and Deputy Commissioner Pat Swinney Kaufman of the NY State Governor's Office for Motion Picture and Television Development led a panel discussion about the benefits of shooting in New York and shared logistical advice for shooting complicated scenes. They were joined by Jonathan Filley - Production Manager, New Line's "Elf," Joe Iberti, Production Manager, Paramount Pictures and Scott Rudin's "School of Rock," Elias Scoropanos, Locations Coordinator, "Third Watch," and Winnie Lam, Locations Manager for various commercials including the recent Citibank and Mercedes ad campaigns.
At the first annual PEP for New York awards, Thomas O'Donnell Jr. of the Teamsters Local 817 presented Commissioner Katherine Oliver with the PEP award, for her extensive efforts to support, promote and expand entertainment production in New York City.
