October 1, 2009 - Several “Made in NY” films are opening this fall.
Based on David Foster Wallace’s book with a screenplay written and directed by John Krasinski, Brief Encounters with Hideous Men focuses on a doctoral candidate who attempts to console her broken heart and academic woes by writing her anthropological dissertation about the secret lives and thoughts of men. The film opened in theatres on September 25.
With an intertwining storyline about New Yorkers and their journeys to find love, New York, I Love You captures the daily motions and
emotions of these residents and their beloved city. A collaboration between some
of today’s most creative filmmakers, New York, I Love You features an all-star cast, including Natalie Portman, Shia LaBeouf and Orlando Bloom, and, of course, the City itself. New York, I Love You debuts in theatres October 16.
In Motherhood, Uma Thurman stars as a mother trying to juggle party planning, parenthood, friendships and work, while still trying to figure out what motherhood means. The film, a snapshot into the life of a mother of two on the day of her daughter’s 6th birthday, opens in theatres on October 23.
