R&B and Rap Videos Rock VMAs

October 1, 2004 - Music videos made in New York City rocked the 2004 MTV Video Music Awards on August 29.

Jay-Z's music video “99 Problems” had no problem securing the most nominations at the ceremony, and took home awards for Best Rap Video, Best Direction, Best Editing and Best Cinematography. The music video shot in locations throughout Brooklyn this February, including Martin Luther King Boulevard and Flushing Avenue.

Taking the award for best R & B Video was Alicia Keys' “If I Ain't Got You.” The music video shot at 127th Street and St. Nicholas Avenue and around St. Nicholas Park this January.

The Mayor's Office of Film, Theatre and Broadcasting congratulates all of this year's winners!
