September 22, 2009 - As the envelopes were opened at the 61st Annual Emmy Awards on September 20, it was clear that New York City continues to be the home of numerous Emmy-winning shows.
30 Rock took top honors once again winning the Emmy for Outstanding Comedy for the third year in a row. Alec Baldwin won for Outstanding Lead Actor in a Comedy Series, and writer Matt Hubbard received the Emmy for Outstanding Writing for a Comedy Series for his episode entitled “Reunion.”
Comedy Central’s The Daily Show with Jon Stewart won for Outstanding Variety, Music or Comedy Series as well as Outstanding Writing for a Variety, Music or Comedy Series.
Winning her second award in a row, Glenn Close picked up the Emmy for Outstanding Lead Actress in a Drama series for her role as Patty Hewes on FX’s Damages.
