Curtain Going Up: Broadway Openings in September

September 2, 2008 - The Broadway season gets into full swing as productions begin previews and debut in the month of September.

The Broadhurst Theatre hosts Equus, starring Daniel Radcliffe in his Broadway debut. Previews start September 5.

To Be or Not to Be begins previews on September 11 at the Samuel J. Friedman Theatre, formerly the Biltmore. The production is directed by Casey Nicholaw.

Depicting the struggle between Sir Thomas More and Henry VIII, Frank Langella leads the cast in A Man for All Seasons. Playing at the American Airlines Theatre, previews begin on September 12.

13 (a musical) features a teenage cast dealing with the angst of being – what else – 13. Previews begin on September 16; the show opens on October 5 at the Bernard B. Jacobs Theatre.

Kristen Scott Thomas reprises her Olivier-winning performance in Anton Chekhov’s The Seagull. Previews begin September 16 at the Walter Kerr Theatre.

Performances of All My Sons begin September 18 at the Gerald Schoenfeld Theatre. The Arthur Miller play will star John Lithgow, Dianne Wiest, Patrick Wilson, and Katie Holmes.

A Tale of Two Cities will debut on September 18. Recreating the Charles Dickens novel at the Al Hirschfeld Theatre is a cast of more than two dozen.
