August 3, 2009 - Meryl Streep and Amy Adams cook their way through Nora Ephron’s latest film Julie & Julia. Steep stars as the iconic Julia Child before she was famous while Adams plays a modern New Yorker attempting to recreate Child’s celebrated recipes.

The “Made in NY” film, which shot on location in New York during the spring of 2008, is an adaptation of two best-selling memoirs, Julie & Julia by Julie Powell and My Life in France by Julia Child with Alex Prud’homme. The story interwines the lives of the two women as Julia spends a year cooking in Paris in the 1950s and Julie documents her culinary progress on a blog.

While half the film is set in Paris, nearly two thirds of those scenes were shot in New York City. Prospect Park stood in for a Parisian garden, and various local restaurants played for French eateries.
