Intrepid New Yorker Billy Joel put everyone in a New York state of mind last Sunday, when he played for the stars on Broadway from Duffy Square, for the 57th Annual Tony Awards. "Hairspray" dominated the awards at Radio City Music Hall, capturing 8 awards for Best Musical, Best Leading Actor, Best Leading Actress, Best Direction, Best Performance by a Featured Actor, Best Book of a Musical, Best Original Score and Best Costume Design. "Take Me Out" and "Long Day's Journey Into Night" scooped up three awards each, with "Take Me Out" winning for Best Play, Best Performance by a Featured Actor and Best Direction. "Long Day's Journey Into Night" won for Best Revival of a Play, Best Performance by a Leading Actress in a Play and Best Leading Actor.
