July 2, 2008 - Two local studios have recently been named qualified production facilities by MOFTB, including the first facility located in the Bronx. Filming at these facilities make productions eligible to participate in the “Made in NY” and Empire State incentive programs.
Lightbox-NY is very proud to be the only current qualified production facility in the Bronx, in addition to being part of the economic revival of Hunts Point. While Lightbox-NY is not a traditional soundstage, its three walls of windows make it a unique choice for shoots. The light doesn’t change, providing consistent brightness throughout the day.
In recent weeks Lightbox-NY has hosted a cereal commercial, an interview/performance for singer-songwriter Regina Spektor, and numerous fashion shoots for internationally renowned photographers.
Home to “The Daily Show” and “The Colbert Report,” NEP Studios consists of several studios located throughout Manhattan. It also hosts “Maury, “The People’s Court,” and “The Tim McCarver Show,” among others. All of the studios are complete technical facilities with control rooms, lighting grids, green rooms, and more.
“Having a studio in Manhattan can be very useful for smaller productions," said Barry Katz, senior vice president and general manager of NEP Studios.
