Summer Nights for Summer Films

July 2, 2008 - With summer now in full swing, numerous outdoor films are playing under the New York City nighttime sky.

Bryant Park Summer Film Festival
Every Monday night from now until August 18, the 2008 HBO Bryant Park Summer Film Festival presents classic films like Arsenic and Old Lace and The Apartment. The lawn opens at 5pm for blankets and picnicking; films begin at dusk. For a complete schedule, click here.

RiverFlicks
Overlooking the Hudson River, RiverFlicks for Kids takes place every Friday night at Pier 45 with offerings of The Wizard of Oz, Bee Movie, and Shrek. For adults, there’s RiverFlicks for Grown-Ups at Pier 54 on Wednesdays. Beginning on July 9 with La Bamba and concluding with The Blues Brothers on August 20, the series will also feature Saturday Night Fever on August 6. For more information, click here.

Summer on the Hudson
Pier I at 70th Street in Manhattan plays host to Movies Under the Stars on Wednesday evenings beginning July 9. This year’s films were chosen to showcase the theme of election year, with selections that include All the President’s Men, Mr. Smith Goes to Washington, and The Manchurian Candidate. Movies with a View
The 9th Annual Brooklyn Bridge Park’s Movies with a View kicks off on July 10 on the lawn of the Empire-Fulton Ferry State Park. Stand By Me and Cabaret are among the films shown every Thursday. For more information, click here.
