June 1, 2007 - The Brooklyn Academy of Music (BAM) is bringing the Sundance Film Festival to New York with sneak peeks of films straight from the 2007 festival.
The second Sundance Institute at BAM series begins on Thursday, May 31 and runs through June 10. For the second year in a row, the institute will allow audiences to preview the creative process behind developing Sundance films and programs.
The 10-day event will also presents nine dramatic features, eight documentaries, a screenplay reading, and 27 shorts from some of the most exciting emerging filmmakers in the U.S. and around the world, according to Jeffrey Levine VP Marketing & Communications at BAM.
“While certainly our series attracts a good deal of people in the film industry, there are just as many, if not more, who are simply fans of new, independent cinema,” said Levine.
Sundance Institute is a non-profit organization dedicated to the discovery and development of independent artists and audiences.
Through its programs, the Institute seeks to discover, support, and inspire independent film and theatre artists from the United States and around the world, and to introduce audiences to their new work. It is the sponsor of the Sundance Film Festival, which noted as one of the most prestigious festivals in the world. It is also the largest independent cinema festival in the nation.
