June 1, 2007 - New York City film production continues to break records as networks pick up six television pilots that were filmed in the City and one pilot that was shot in LA.
This is a monumental accomplishment, considering the usually low percentage of pilot shows that get picked up within the network television industry. Pilots that were “Made in NY” and picked up by television networks during the week of May 14-18, include:
Fox
“New Amsterdam”
“Canterbury’s Law”
“The Return of Jezebel James” (Moving to NYC after the pilot was made in LA)
ABC
“Cashmere Mafia”
NBC
“Lipstick Jungle”
FX
“Damages”
CW
“Gossip Girl”
In February, New York City had a record 10 television pilots filmed here – thanks to the “Made in NY” tax credit program.
In 2006, the city set a record for the highest number of film and television production shooting days ever. The Mayor’s Office of Film, Theatre & Broadcasting assisted 34,718 shoot days on public property, a 10 percent increase over 2005 when the introduction of the “Made in NY” incentive program set a then-record of 31,578 shoot days in NYC.
The “Made in NY” incentive program, which includes tax credits, marketing credits and a concierge service, has created thousands of new jobs by bringing $2.4 billion in new business to New York within the past two years.
We congratulate all of the new shows that were greenlighted. We also welcome the new shows that will become part of the City’s thriving production industry.
