May 1, 2006 - The fifth annual Tribeca Film Festival, from April 25 - May 7, has again brought filmmakers from around the globe to New York City, the world's entertainment capital.
At this year's festival, Katherine Oliver, Commissioner of the Mayor's Office of Film, Theatre and Broadcasting, will moderate “Making Movies in New York,” a free panel discussion featuring Tim Williams, head of production at GreeneStreet films, Dito Montiel, writer/director of the New York City film A Guide to Recognizing Your Saints, which won acclaim at the Sundance Film Festival, and Georgia Lee, writer/director of the film Red Doors, which won the “Made in NY” award at last year's Tribeca Film Festival. The panel takes place at the Tribeca Industry and Press Lounge at 6:00 pm on Friday May 5.
Also at this year's festival, the Mayor's Office of Film, Theatre and Broadcasting will again present the “Made in NY” award for Best Narrative Feature in the NY, NY category. The agency will also host a Producer's Reception to pitch filmmakers on the City's incentives and services for the industry.
Last year, the Festival reported contributing $77 million to our local economy and drawing well over 260,000 attendees.
