A scene from the film Next Exit, playing at the BAC festival.
May 1, 2006 - The Brooklyn Arts Council (BAC) International Film and Video Festival , now in its 40th year, is the longest running event of its kind in Brooklyn. Each year, the Festival provides opportunities for film and video artists from New York and around the world to show their work, often for the first time, to other artists, critics, and the media at free screenings throughout the city. The Festival, which runs through May 7, features films and videos by independent, college, and youth (K-12) filmmakers, who are selected by a panel of film and video professionals. The collection of selected films reflect New York's ethnic and cultural diversity, giving audiences the opportunity to get acquainted with the aesthetics, issues and traditions of other cultures. Screening locations include Ocularis at Galapagos Art Space in Williamsburg, Brooklyn; the Brooklyn Museum; the SonyWonder Technology Lab in Manhattan and Long Island University.
