April 1, 2010 - The Council on the Environment of New York
City (CENYC), which has worked for forty years to transform the City’s
environment, now has a new name: GrowNYC.
Serving as a resource of New
Yorkers looking to make the City a more sustainable place to live, work and
play, GrowNYC has also been a resource for local film and television
productions. MOFTB’s NYC Green Screen page, offering tips and environmentally
friendly info for NYC production, has listed CENYC, and now GrowNYC, since the
page first launched.
With a new name and logo, GrowNYC hopes to better
communicate the way it works to improve the City: block by block and
neighborhood by neighborhood. Over the years, GrowNYC has provided access to
locally grown food for New Yorkers, maintained green spaces and community
gardens, helped New Yorkers recycle and reduce waste, and teach the next
generation of environmental leaders through educational programs.
David
Hurd, director of the office of recycling outreach and education, will also be
featured in the upcoming NYC life special “The Green Apple,” focusing on
recycling efforts in the City.
