April 1, 2005 – New York City is proud to welcome the fourth annual Tribeca Film Festival, taking place from April 19-May 1, 2005. There is no better home for this event than right here in New York City, the largest and most important center of independent filmmaking in the United States.
This year, the Mayor’s Office of Film, Theatre and Broadcasting (MOFTB) is expanding its presence at the Festival by sponsoring the “Made in NY” award for the winner in the "NY, NY" narrative category, and presenting the new Made in NY Incentive Program at venues throughout the festival. The MOFTB is also saluting the festival 's fourth year, on bus shelter advertisements throughout the five boroughs.
“Last year, the Tribeca Film Festival drew nearly 400,000 attendees and contributed an estimated $72 million economic impact on New York City,” Commissioner Katherine Oliver said. “It is a pleasure to partner with an event which shares our commitment to supporting New York City’s film production industry.”
