March 31, 2004 New York's latest cast of characters includes one batboy and two investigators - not to mention some firefighters and a jury. They are the stars of the new pilots and television series beginning production in the City this spring.
Jonny Zero, a FOX pilot being produced by Warner Brothers, began shooting in New York last month. The story focuses on a former mobster released from prison, whom the FBI recruits to become an informant.
That's not the only actor doing some undercover investigating: Stanley Tucci is currently starring in The Webster Report, a new pilot about a New York private investigator. The CBS /Warner Brothers pilot also began shooting in the City last month.
With all these investigations going on, we'll definitely need The Jury, a new FOX series also in production. Written by Tom Fontana and directed by Barry Levinson, the series focuses on a variety of court cases from the jury's point of view.
Also performing civil service are the characters of Rescue Me, a thirteen-episode series being made by Sony for F/X. The show, starring Denis Leary, centers on a group of post September 11 firefighters.
Another team affair, Clubhouse, will focus on the coming-of-age of a batboy for a New York baseball team. The CBS pilot, being produced by Spelling and Icon Productions, will star Christopher Lloyd, Mare Winningham, Dean Cain and Jeremy Sumpter. It began shooting in New York in late March.
Stay tuned for more pilots and series shooting in the City!
