March 17, 2005 - The third spin-off of the hit “Made in NY” series Law & Order premiered on NBC on March 3. Law & Order: Trial By Jury tells crime stories from the point of view of law enforcement, defense, judges and jurors. The series is shot exclusively in New York City.
Law & Order: Trial By Jury stars Bebe Neuwirth, whose NYC film credits include How to Lose a Guy in Ten Days, Tadpole, Summer of Sam, Celebrity, The Associate and Green Card, along with Amy Carlson of Third Watch fame, Law & Order veteran Fred Dalton Thompson, and Kirk Acevedo, whose NYC film credits include Dinner Rush, Bait, In the Weeds and Boiler Room. The first several episodes also feature the late, great Jerry Orbach.
"New York City is as much a part of every Law & Order ensemble as the actors,” series creator Dick Wolf recently said. “There is no such thing as a bad angle when you are shooting in the greatest city in the world.”
As a qualifying television series for the Made in NY marketing credit, Trial By Jury received free advertising on bus shelter posters from the Mayor’s Office of Film, Theatre and Broadcasting throughout the five boroughs. The series bears the “Made in NY” mark of distinction in its end credits.
“New York City is extremely excited to welcome a fourth Law & Order to the Big Apple,” Katherine Oliver, Commissioner of the Mayor’s Office of Film, Theatre and Broadcasting, said. “The Law & Order franchise employs hundreds of New Yorkers, contributes millions of dollars to our economy and showcases the beauty and energy of New York City in every episode. We look forward to assisting the series with all aspects of the production cycle, from script to screen.”
Tune in to Trial By Jury on Fridays at 10:00 pm on NBC.
