March 2, 2009 - NYCTV, the official television network of the City of New York, has received 44 New York Emmy Award nominations. NYCTV has been nominated for Emmys, local television’s most prestigious peer-recognition award, every year since its launch in 2003. The station has received a total of 160 New York Emmy Award nominations.

“NYCTV continues to set the bar for municipal television stations everywhere, but even more than that, it is proving that it can compete with the very best television stations in the media capital of the world,” said Mayor Bloomberg. “The secret to NYCTV’s success has been tapping into to the City’s incredibly diverse and dynamic neighborhoods, and helping viewers see and explore the City in exciting new ways. I want to congratulate everyone at NYCTV for all their hard work, and for showing how good innovative and creative local programming can be.”

With its signature theme “Everything New York,” NYCTV’s flagship Channel 25 showcases New York City culture, including history and landmarks, entertainment and fashion, and music and food.

The winners of this year’s awards will be announced at the 52nd Annual New York Emmy Award Ceremony on Sunday, March 29th, at the Marriott Marquis Times Square. The ceremony will be broadcast on NYCTV, channel 25, as part of a special presentation on Thursday, April 9th at 8PM.
