March 1, 2005 - During Women's History Month and all year long, the Mayor's Office of Film, Theatre and Broadcasting is proud to join in celebrating the many creative and talented women who are driving forces behind the film, theatre and broadcasting industries.
This month, New York Women in Film and Television are planning a number of events including a power player breakfast with Ilene Landress, executive producer of The Sopranos and Alysse Bezahler, producer of Hope & Faith; a power player breakfast with cable industry pioneer Kay Koplovitz; screenings of films by and about women of color at the Harlem Film Festival; and a panel co-sponsored by the National Academy of Television Arts & Sciences and the Center for Communication discussing journalism in the age of terrorism. March also brings the African American Women in Cinema film festival, to be held March 24-26. The festival is run by a non-profit organization designed to support minority women filmmakers. Click here for more information
