the TKTS booth in Times Square

March 1, 2005 - In January, the Theatre Development fund, which operates the TKTS Ticket Booth on Broadway and 47th street for same day discount tickets for Broadway, Off Broadway, music and dance, began piloting a separate "play only" line to expedite requests for play tickets. Plays which are available at the "play only" window are identified with a "P" next to their name on the lighted board. Tickets for both plays and musicals continue to be sold at other TKTS windows.

"We're thrilled to be able to offer a 'Play Only' window at TKTS and hopeful that it will stimulate attendance to non-musical Broadway and Off Broadway productions by both tourists and New Yorkers," Victoria Bailey, Executive Director of TDF said. "The creation of the "Play Only" window is in keeping with the mission of TKTS, which has always been to make reasonably priced theatre tickets easier to get, attract new and younger audiences and help shows stay open longer."

The TKTS hours of operation are Monday- Saturday from 3pm to 8pm for 8pm performances; Wednesdays and Saturdays 10am - 2pm for 2pm matinees and Sundays from 11am to 7pm for all performances.
