Commissioner Oliver with the filmmakers at the Taxicab Confessions screening
March 1, 2005 - New York City has captured "Confessions!" After leaving New York for Las Vegas, executive producer Sheila Nevins worked with Commissioner Katherine Oliver to bring HBO's Emmy award-winning documentary Taxicab Confessions back to the Big Apple where it belongs.
The specials, the first of which premiered on February 5, feature New Yorkers who have agreed to share their secretly-taped confessions to cab drivers.
"Film and television is big business for the City, and we are committed to liaising with City agencies and doing whatever it takes to attract and retain production in New York," Commissioner Oliver said.
On February 1, HBO and The Mayor's Office of Film, Theatre and Broadcasting co-hosted a special screening of the hit documentary and a reception at Katz's delicatessen to celebrate the return of the series to the City.
"We're delighted to be working with the city again," Sheila Nevins, President of HBO Documentary said. "What a kick to find a Commisioner like Katherine, who loves New York as much as I do."
