February 1, 2006 - On January 11, the Mayor’s Office of Film, Theatre and Broadcasting (MOFTB) celebrated the 100th episode of "Law & Order: Criminal Intent" – each one of which has been “Made in NY.” At a celebration attended by cast and crew, Deputy Commissioner John Battista presented a Mayoral proclamation declaring the day “Law & Order: Criminal Intent Day” in the City of New York.
“Now in its fifth season, 'Law & Order: Criminal Intent' has relied on New York City's beauty and energy from the very beginning,” Deputy Commissioner Battista said. “The heroes of the show dramatize the lives of the brave men and women whose hard work has made New York the safest large city in the nation. The stars and producers of the show are loyal champions of the City's thriving film and television production industry, which employs 100,000 New Yorkers and annually contributes $5 billion to our City's economy. 'Law & Order: Criminal Intent' proudly bears the 'Made in NY' logo, which certifies that the show is part of an incentive program that assures authenticity and bolsters our City's status as an entertainment capital. Thanks in part to New York's energy, character and star power, we are confident that 'Law & Order: Criminal Intent' is destined to celebrate many more important milestones.”
As part of the City’s ongoing commitment to supporting the shows, the MOFTB also partnered with Reuters to run a salute to all three "Law & Order" shows on the Reuters sign in Times Square in January, congratulating NBC Universal, brand creator Dick Wolf, and the Law & Order family on producing a collective 600 episodes of "Law & Order," "Law & Order: Special Victims Unit" and "Law & Order: Criminal Intent" here in New York.
