Commissioner Oliver presents the proclamation to Gerald Schoenfeld, Chairman of the League of American Theatres and Producers, and Jed Bernstein, President of the League
February 1, 2005 – On December 15, 2004, Commissioner Katherine Oliver presented a proclamation declaring “The League of American Theatres and Producers Day,” in celebration of The League’s 75th anniversary. Since 1930, The League has represented the Great White Way’s theatre owners and operators, producers, presenters, general managers and suppliers.
“In spite of a proliferation of entertainment options, Broadway theatre continues to thrive and expand,” the Mayoral proclamation stated. “While this success is partially due to the intensity and immediacy of stage acting, the hard work of all those affiliated with the League has ensured theater’s continuing viability and relevance. New York City, on behalf of all those whose world has been illuminated by the bright lights of Broadway, congratulates the League of American Theatres and Producers on its tremendous success.”
