January 6, 2009 - Calling all young New York City filmmakers! Some exciting festivals are looking for work created by young people showcasing the city and the world.
Tribeca Film Institute
The Tribeca Film Institute is currently accepting submissions for their program Our City, My Story—an annual celebration of the excellence and diversity within New York City youth media, giving student-made work an audience during the Tribeca Film Festival. By sharing this tremendous work with new audiences, Our City, My Story heralds the excellence, vision, and hard work of young filmmakers and celebrates the organizations and individuals who support these talented artists.
Our City, My Story provides a platform for student work to be seen and applauded, and the result is a committee-curated program of youth shorts and a number of students who have obtained their first experience submitting work to a major film festival. The program application and a list of qualifications can be found at: www.tribecafilmfestival.org.
The Human Rights Watch International Film Festival
The Human Rights Watch International Film Festival in partnership with Adobe Youth Voices seeks youth-produced media works on human rights issues for its second annual YOUTH PRODUCING CHANGE program to screen in our New York, London, Boston and San Francisco film festivals in 2009-10. YOUTH PRODUCING CHANGE provides a platform for youth to share their perspectives with audiences worldwide. They are looking for media works on human rights issues (equality, civil rights, politics, gender international justice, HIV/AIDS, health, the environment, war and conflict, refugees, immigration, economic, social, and cultural rights) created by youth ages 19 and younger.
