It may be cold outside, but Broadway theatres are heating up with new
productions in January.
Previews for The American Plan began on
January 2 at the Samuel J. Friedman Theatre. Mercedes Ruehl stars as a mother in
the 1960s intent on controlling her daughter’s life.
Mary Louise Parker
returns to Broadway in Henrik Ibsen’s Hedda Gabler. Previews begin
January 6 at the American Airlines Theatre.
Soul of Shaolin, an
account of a boy raised by Buddhist monks who later becomes a kung fu master,
opens for a limited run at the Marquis Theatre on January 15.
Will
Ferrell treads the boards with You're Welcome America. A Final Night with
George W Bush. Previews begin January 20 at the Cort Theatre.
Also
on January 20, The 39 Steps moves to its new home at the Helen Hayes
Theatre. Adapted from the novel and popular Alfred Hitchcock film, four actors
play dozens of characters in this tale of espionage and intrigue.
