Tribeca Film Institute Looking for Aspiring Filmmakers

January 2, 2008 - The Tribeca Film Institute is now accepting applications for the 2008 Tribeca Film Fellows program. Twenty aspiring filmmakers between the ages of 15 to 20 will be selected and given the opportunity to witness the excitement of a major film festival while developing their own visions and voices through film.

The fellowship will allow students to take part in an engaging program that includes a creative project, panel discussions, workshops, mentoring by festival film directors, screenings, and special events throughout the film festival.

As part of this fellowship, students will gain a deeper knowledge of the creative, professional, and educational opportunities available in media through filmmaking projects, mentorship from festival directors, screenings, intensive workshops, and direct contact with seasoned filmmakers. The Fellows will also become better educated about the independent film community and the role of international film festivals in the industry. Finally, Fellows will forge meaningful relationships with peers, educators, and festival filmmakers that will further develop their individual, scholastic, and career goals.

Interested applicants must be 15-20 years of age, be actively involved with video production for at least 12 months, possess aspirations for a career in media or film, and submit a work sample. The deadline to apply is February 8, 2008.
