IFC/Acura Commercial Chooses City

January 1, 2005 - It was all fun and games in the streets of Brooklyn this October during a shoot for a spot to promote IFC and Acura. The commercial, in which children ride garbage trucks and go-carts through the street and prepare to throw water balloons on a car, parodies a popular scene from the film The Royal Tenenbaums, which also shot in New York City.

For production of the spot, the Mayor’s Office of Film, Theatre and Broadcasting (MOFTB) assisted with traffic flow to allow for the filming of scenes with children harnessed to garbage trucks on Prospect Park West in Park Slope; riding go carts under the elevated F train in the middle of Smith Street in Cobble Hill; and poised to throw water balloons on a car on Second Street in Park Slope.

“These scenes just wouldn’t have been feasible without MOFTB and NYPD assistance,” Location Manager Mitchell Brozinsky said. “The textures of the brownstone neighborhood and elevated train are very distinct, and it’s all very much meant to convey the look and feel of the City.”
