Music & Lyrics released in theatres on Valentine’s Day, February 14, 2006. The film shot in New York City from March-July 2006, employing 3,098 New York City cast and crew members.
Music & Lyrics used New York City locations because Writer and Director Mark Lawrence is an NYC resident. New York’s local talent base creates new opportunities for upcoming film projects and this is no exception. Lawrence claims that at the beginning of pre-production he drew an eight block radius around his apartment on the upper west side and said “all the locations will be here.” Lawrence also wrote and directed the romantic comedy Two Weeks Notice in 2002.
The film stars Hugh Grant, who shot Two Weeks Notice (2002) in NYC. Drew Barrymore recently shot Duplex (2003) and Riding in Cars with Boys (2001) in NYC.
