
Staten Island's farm colony was featured as a key location in Freedomland
Freedomland released in theatres on February 17, 2006. It shot from March to June of 2005 and employed 150 NYC cast and crew members. The film tells the story of a mother whose son disappears.
Director Joe Roth also served as producer on The Forgotten which was filmed in NYC.
Screenwriter Richard Price (who also wrote the novel on which the movie is based) also penned the scripts for “Made in NY” productions Ransom and Shaft.
Samuel L. Jackson has starred in numerous “Made in NY” movies, including Changing Lanes, Shaft, Die Hard: With a Vengeance, Kiss of Death, Fresh, Trip and Jungle Fever.
Actress Julianne Moore is also a loyal New Yorker. She has appeared in The Forgotten, Laws of Attraction, The Hours, and Marie and Bruce, and will be featured in next year’s Trust the Man.
