New York City’s “MADE IN NY” INCENTIVE PROGRAM offers film and television productions a slate of opportunities that make it more attractive than ever to shoot in the five boroughs, featuring incentives and discounts - along with expanded customer services for production.
Tax Credit – New York City’s “Made in NY” tax credit for qualified film and television production reached its allocation of funds in 2009. The credit has expired as of December 31, 2011. Marketing Credit - New York City's "Made in NY" Marketing Credit offers qualified "Made in NY" film and television productions with free co-branded advertising opportunities in the #1 media market in the country. "Made in NY" Productions are projects where at least 75% of the overall production was made in New York City.
Media packages offered to qualified projects vary depending on below-the-line budgets.
Tier 1: BELOW-THE-LINE SPENDING OF $10 MILLION OR MORE
- Qualifies for up to 40 Bus Shelters (4 week run)
- Qualifies for up to 500 subway cards (4 week run)
- Qualifies for psa/trailer in back of 13,000 taxi cabs
- Production covers cost of printing bus shelters and subway cards
Tier 2: BELOW-THE-LINE SPENDING OF $5 MILLION - $10 MILLION
- Qualifies for up to 40 Bus Shelters
- Qualifies for up to 500 subway cards
- Qualifes for psa/trailer in back of 13,000 taxi cabs
- Mayor's Office of Media and Entertainment covers cost of printing bus shelters and subway cards
Tier 3: BELOW-THE-LINE SPENDING OF 0 - $5 MILLION
- Qualifies for up to 20 Bus Shelters
- Qualifies for up to 250 Subway cards
- Qualifies for psa/trailer in back of 13,000 taxi cabs
- Mayor's Office of Media and Entertainment covers cost of printing bus shelters and subway cards
This credit is available on a FIRST COME, FIRST SERVE basis.

Participants in this program are required to co-brand all creatives with the "Made in NY" logo. Participants in this program are also required to provide a donation to a cultural institution as identified by New York City Department of Cultural Affairs. For projects with below-the-line budgets of less than $10 million, the donation will be equal to .1% of a production's below-the-line spend. If a production's below-the-line spend is over $10 million, the donation is fixed at $10,000.

“Made in NY” Discount Card - Available to bona fide productions shooting in the City, the “Made in NY” discount card provides discounts and special offers when presented to participating vendors, including hotels, airlines, car rental and messenger services, banking services, production services and more. “Made in NY” Logo - This “Mark of Distinction” is awarded to projects where at least 75% of the overall production was made in New York City and is used in the production credits of all shows participating in the “Made in NY” program.
Concierge Service - Expanded service supports the entire production cycle.
