FDNY Wins Annual Football Game vs. NYPD

New York’s Bravest bested the Finest in the 36th Annual Fun City Bowl football game on June 1 at the James M. Shuart Stadium at Hofstra University, with a score of 17-15.

The FDNY scored the first two touchdowns of the game in the first quarter. The NYPD first scored on a touchback, followed by a touchdown on a long pass to the end zone during the second quarter.

Early in the fourth quarter, the NYPD scored a field goal which brought the score to 14-15. On a long field goal, with less than two minutes left in the game, the FDNY scored to win.

The game included a ceremony honoring the fallen heroes of the NYPD and FDNY - including Lt. John Martinson and Firefighters Daniel Pujdak, Robert Beddia and Joseph Graffagnino - and several Wounded Warriors.

Proceeds from the Fun City Bowl went to FDNY and NYPD charities.

The FDNY football team soon will travel to Phoenix for their league’s Super Bowl.
