FDNY Firefighters Inspire "I Have a Dream" New York Students

FDNY Firefighters educated students from the “I Have a Dream” New York Foundation about the career opportunities within the FDNY on June 23 during a special visit at the Department’s Headquarters in Brooklyn.
Lieutenant Andrew Brown and Firefighters Tracey Lewis and Bayete Lynch discussed the daily responsibilities of a New York City Firefighter, as well as encouraged the students to get an early start in researching careers in the fire and emergency medical service field.
FDNY Firefighters at Engine 207, Ladder 110 in Brooklyn discussed their daily responsibilities with students from the "I Have a Dream" New York Foundation in June.
As part of the program, the high schoolers were able to visit Engine 207, Ladder 110 in Brooklyn to tour the firehouse and discuss Firefighter culture with the Firefighters who work there.
The initiative was part of ongoing collaborative efforts with New York City youth organizations in the Department’s Office of Community Engagement.
