FDNY HS Students Win Top Honors at EMS Games

FDNY High School for Fire and Life Safety student Derron Bucknor led his team in the Tech Bag Relay during the FDNY's Seventh Annual High School EMS Games. The event was held at the EMS Academy at Fort Totten in Queens.

FDNY High School for Fire and Life Safety students showcased their academic, athletic and life saving skills in May as competitors in the FDNY’s Seventh Annual High School EMS Games.

During the event, which was held at Fort Totten in Queens, the high schoolers faced off against Grace Dodge Career and Technical Education High School in the College Bowl, Tech Bag Relay, Rapid Take-Down and Spelling Bee games.

With an excellent display of teamwork and perseverance, FDNY High School defeated Grace Dodge High School in three out of the four competitions to earn the coveted first place trophy. The students were also awarded medals for their outstanding performance in the challenges.

Located on Pennsylvania Avenue in Brooklyn, the FDNY High School for Fire and Life Safety is a small thematic school that serves students in 9th through 12th grade. The annual games are part of a host of educational initiatives that help to expose the students to the paramedic and EMT career.
