As part of the FDNY's ongoing efforts to encourage the next generation of leaders, the Department hosted a Health Awareness Seminar for more than 100 students from the Fire and Emergency Services Exploring Program on March 21 at FDNY Headquarters.

The Exploring Program educates students ages 14 to 20 about fire and emergency services careers, while also teaching leadership and service skills.

"We encourage our Explorers to consider a civil service career in the fire and emergency medical service to help inform them about the different careers they can begin to pursue as young professionals," FDNY Office of Recruitment and Diversity Deputy Director Nafeesah Noonan said. "It is very important that our students understand that the choices they make today will affect their ability to achieve their goals of tomorrow."

"This is the third year we have hosted this program for the FDNY, because we are continuously working to improve the quality of life of our youth," Mahon explained. "It is essential for our students to recognize that they need to make intelligent decisions in all parts of their lives to ensure that they become successful adults."
