Firefighters battled a four-alarm fire at 71 E. Kingsbridge Road in the Bronx on Sunday, February 11. The fire was first reported at the one-story commercial building at 11:31 a.m. and went to a fourth-alarm by 12:25 p.m. Flames extended to the duct work and the cockloft, causing a subsequent roof collapse. A total of three stores were damaged before firefighters got the blaze under control at 2:03 p.m. Approximately 39 units and 168 firefighters responded. Fire marshals determined a grease fire, which started in the kitchen, was the cause.
