A fire broke out at 11:46 p.m. and quickly spread in a 6-story apartment building in Far Rockaway. A 6th alarm was transmitted at 1:29 a.m. and it was brought under control at 4:10 a.m. Five civilians and 33 firefighters sustained minor injuries in the blaze.
