Brooklyn - Box 0386 - 67 Flushing Avenue - January 23, 2007

At 10:39 a.m., FDNY members responded to a call of a male in his 40s who had fallen in a hole on a fuel barge. Firefighters from Engine 210, Squad 1 and Rescue 2, as well as EMS rescue medics made contact with the victim and performed high angle rescue in the 18 inch wide hole. The victim was removed an hour later and taken to Brooklyn Hospital in critical condition. The Department believes the worker was climbing down a ladder in 50-foot deep hole to do work when he fell to the bottom.
