Firefighters battled a six-alarm fire resulting from an explosion in a four-story 25x75 multiple-dwelling brick duplex on the Upper East Side of Manhattan. More than 200 firefighters and EMS personnel responded to the blaze that began at 8:40 a.m. Fifteen people were injured, including 10 firefighters with minor injuries. Fire marshals determined the building’s gas line had been tampered with. The investigation is ongoing.
