MCKINSEY
STUDY Many family members have asked about the Department's evaluation
of the events of 9/11. After soliciting proposals from several major consulting
firms, the FDNY retained McKinsey & Company to help the Department learn from
the events of 9/11. The consultants examined the response, operations and
command structure that was in place prior to, during, and after the attacks on
the World Trade Center. The purpose of the study was to make findings concerning
the functioning of the Fire Department's Incident Command System and recommendations
to help prepare for the future. Read the McKinsey
Report. (Back to Top MOUSSAOUI
TRIAL Zacarias Moussaoui has been charged for conspiring to commit the
terrorist acts of September 11, 2001. On March 26, 2002, several FDNY family members
came to the Southgate Hotel in Manhattan to give their testimony to the U.S. Attorney's
Office about the impact that the events of 9/11 have had on their lives. If you
were not able to attend, but would still like to contribute testimony, you can
fill out a questionnaire and send a photograph to be included in a book of evidence
that will be provided to the jury. If you would like to receive one of these questionnaires,
please call the FAU at (718) 999-1473. The trial was scheduled to begin
on September 30, 2002 but has been postponed. If you would like to receive information
about the pending case as it proceeds through the criminal justice system, you
must register with the Department of Justice. The Department of Justice has set
up a Victim Notification System (VNS) which enables victims to use a toll-free
number to receive current information about the trial. You will also be included
in future mailings regarding the trial. All immediate family members are invited
to register. Immediate family members include spouses, parents, legal guardians,
children, siblings and other close family members. To register, please call their
