FDNY Counseling Services UnitTobacco Cessation Program
In the wake of 9/11, many Department personnel fell back on old, unhealthy habits such as smoking. In response, the CSU established this free, voluntary program that provides about $1,000 dollars in smoking cessation tools to all FDNY, EMS, Civilian Employees, retirees, and their families. Through a combination of nicotine replacement products, medication, and individual and group counseling tailored specifically to each smoker. Nearly 1,000 individuals have been treated so far and a reported sixty percent have quit using tobacco. Call 718-999-1942 for more information.
