Heartiest congratulations to our EMS award winners.
Many of these emergency medical service workers being
honored today placed themselves in jeopardy in order
to provide much-needed pre-hospital care. The scenarios
in which they found themselves run the gamut--from
interrupting the attempted smothering and choking
death of a young girl by two women, to tending to
gunshot-wounded victims while a crazed gunman remained
at large in the Empire State Building. Each of these
EMT-Ds and/or Paramedics performed as expected--focusing
on the patient and his or her needs, while ignoring
any potential personal danger. As you read the stories
that explain why these individuals have been selected
for recognition, you’ll comprehend the overriding
theme of FDNY EMS--providing pre-hospital, life-saving
care in a timely fashion. Again, congratulations to
all!
