FIRE COMMISSIONER CASSANO PRESIDES AT GRADUATION CEREMONY FOR 87 EMERGENCY MEDICAL TECHNICIANS

Fire Commissioner Salvatore J. Cassano will preside over the promotion of two EMS Deputy Chiefs to the rank of Division Chief and the graduation of 87 Emergency Medical Technicians at the Christian Cultural Center – 120-20 Flatlands Avenue, Brooklyn on Monday, April 21 at 11 a.m.

“Last year, FDNY responded to more than 1.4 million medical emergencies, providing the un-paralleled pre-hospital care New Yorkers expect and deserve,” said Commissioner Cassano.  “As new FDNY EMTs, these graduates will respond to life-threatening emergencies, making an immediate, positive impact on the communities they serve throughout the five boroughs.”

EMS Deputy Chiefs Roberto Colon and Steven Morelli will be promoted to the rank of Division Chief. In their new ranks, Chief Colon will serve as Bronx Borough Commander and Chief Morelli will serve in EMS Operations.

Nineforeign languages are spoken by this diverse group of graduates, including: Creole, French, Hindi, Hungarian, Italian, Punjabi, Romanian, Spanish and Urdu. These new graduates will be assigned to various units throughout the city.
